Richard do you really want to be on SSI the rest of your life?

I am on SSDI and I only get 490 but I work albeit part time. Their is no way you can really live on 847 a month let aloen 490. I've been having more luck finding a full time job in my field of study. Right now I do work in my field of study but it doesn't pay enough.

I am looking forward to having a full time job with benefits and not having to rely on a goverment handouts.

If you don't want to work, you should atleast volunteer somewhere, it will improve your self esteem because it will make you feel productive.

The goverment can also help you go back to school with their "ticket to work" program. You can get fuinding for school or job training. Personally I hate the idea of sitting on my ass and collecting money from the gov't but to each their own.

Also I wouldn't spend your backpay on a trip to Hawaii, if you were smart you would put in a savings account or invest in stock because trust me you're gonna need that money.

what was terrible about it? I am in VR they helped me pay for school, and have been supportive of me. Can't you ask them for funding to go back to school or get into some kind of job training program? I bet you are more capable then you realize.


Also volunteering is a great way to contribute to society, build work experience, and may even lead to a job. Where I work now I started off as a volunteer, and eventually became employed.  Take a break if you need to, but don't totally throw in the towel on your life.

And please think long and hard before spending that 15,000 on a trip to Hawaii. You should spend that money on a used car, so you can have something to get around in instead. If you can't drive you can also use it to hire a driving instructor. I had a driving instructor and he helped immensly. You should invest the rest of that money into savings. Trust me you'll need it!
