It's embarassing and I don't like people seeing me cry so I try to hide it. In movie theaters it's a lot easier because the auditorium is dark and only way for someone to know I am crying is if I do sniffles. Even when I am by myself, I still don't like to cry because I don't like to be upset or sad or down. I have learned to turn off most of my feelings but sometimes I will slip back to my old self and have feelings for something or get upset about something.

Have you ever tried just reveling in
your emotions, and letting them
take you?

I ask, because when I was young, I
tried to bottle them all up, but learned
that 'twas more beautiful to do otherwise.

Not everyone is an emo, Cal. Sometimes it is better to paint a facade. Revealing your feelings can just end up with you getting more hurt.

So now, just feeling is emo? What you're
saying implies that one would call berserkers
emo.

All that I'm saying is that the rush of fully
experienced emotions, good and bad, is
akin to the best things in life.

Feeling the feelings isnt. Expressing them too much is. I advocate hiding your emotions in NT land as much as possible, unless they are postive emotions.

So, berserkers would indeed be emo, in your view?
And nearly all that is opera or drama? I'd much rather
live in beauty than hide things. And, NOT expressing
seems to deaden one a bit.

I would see the emotions Berserkers display as positive. Cry and whining, on the other hand is just pure emoness. Emoness is the over expression of negative emotion.

Often went into battles with tears of bloodlust.
I'm not sure that I'd say it was really positive,
but 'tis what I strive towards.

Whining doesn't tend to have much real emotion.
More something that those out of touch with their
passions would do.

Are you after some kind of glorious and heroic death then Cal? I think the time where one person can make his mark like that are slipping away. Fast.

I'd LOVE a glorious and heroic LIFE.
I just can't be bothered enough.

As to death, I desire the perfect one,
ascension. In rapture. Doesn't really have
to mean a damned thing to anyone else.
Same really with my life. Ah, I crave adulation,
but only personal and immediate. I don't really
get much out of the idea of making some long
term mark.

Hmm, what I get out of the long term mark is an almost unachievable goal, a challenge to keep me occupied for my years. In some ways i would regret actually achieving it.

You could achieve it near the moment of death.

Then die depressed. I think not. What I need is another challenge ready for if I complete the second one. I actually wonder if my generation will ever die.

1. Nah, before the elation wears off.
More or less what I seek.

3. Sounds like me, 'cept you assume a
subset of people who would be immortal.
I mentioned this before, but Robert Silverberg
came up with the thought that no one ever
actually believes that they're mortal. That all
THIS is so obviously centered around them,
why would it go on. I doubt many people
actually think that way, but I certainly do.

I get very little elation out of things, I couldnt even celebrate my string of A's last year. As for mortality, I hate it. I probably need to become a God of some sort to feel satisfied. As for my generation not dying, I think science will keep ahead of my grave.
