What is your favourite book and why?

no idea.  i read like other people breathe, and so i couldn't possibly narrow it down.

if i HAD to choose one which was the only one available to me, then i'd go for the complete oxford english dictionary, though, all twenty-odd volumes of it (or whatever it is).  should take me a few years to learn all the new words, and use them.
