DOWNEY - Police Wednesday were looking for two armed suspects, one of whom accidentally shot himself, after they robbed the Lucky Boys #2 restaurant.
At about 7:20 p.m., two suspects, both males, entered the restaurant at 12801 Bellflower Blvd., and one brandished a blue steel revolver, said Officer Norm Kroll of the Downey Police Department.
One suspect pointed the gun at the cashier and demanded money, while the second displayed another revolver from his waistband, police said.
The cashier handed the register over, and both suspects removed cash, police said. Police did not say how much money the robbers took.
As they turned and attempted to flee out a door of the restaurant, the door failed to open and the suspects ran into each other, causing one to accidentally fire his weapon, injuring himself, police said.
Both fled on foot.
One was described as a light-skinned male, around 19 years old, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, Kroll said.
The other was a male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, possibly Hispanic, with a thin build, he said.
Anyone with more information is urged to call Sgt. Jeff Calhoun of the Downey Police at (562) 904-2308.
