Outback Steakhouse is an Australian restaurant from your country. That's what I was told over here when one first opened in Missoula Montana when I was about 16. I even asked one of the waitresses there is the restaurant is from Australia and she said yes.

I do not think it is even Australian owned, there are no Outback Steakhouses in Australia. Traditional 'White' Australia food consists of meat pies, roast lamb, beef or chicken, steak, lamb chops served with three vegetables.

Fosters is not drunk much in Australia anyway.

I actually saw an Outback Steakhouse in Australia near where my friend lives.

It's an American Franchise.

I know...I meant that in response to Teejay saying there are no outback steakhouses in Australia. I should have quoted just that sentence I guess.

Yes, I just wanted to dispel SG's thought that it was an authentic experience.

As for the food Teejay has listed as white Australian food, I would think that is more the English descendants food, not what I was brought up on and in fact, not what most people are eating here these days anyway.

Actually this was a point I was going to make about McDonalds.  Selling "French Fries"

julienne (joo-lee-EHN) - To cut food into thin sticks which are also called matchsticks. Food is cut with a knife or mandoline into even slices, then into strips.

History: French chef Jean Julien is said to have introduced the "julienne" method or preparing vegetables.

Hence why they are called French Fries...they are potatoes cut in the julienne fashion.

Although some attribute it to the Belgians.
