Airheads who think they have AS

OK, this is my first post, but to hell with it.

I am finding myself increasingly sick of seeing people on WP who think they have AS primarily because they are spoiled little brats who want their own way all the time.

Every time I read a post that pisses me off...invariably I read the person's profile and it reads 'AS self diagnosed' or 'AS diagnosed' but I wonder by whom???  The local GP who just wants to get rid of them?

Anyway, it just makes me wish I could throttle them.

I was diagnosed by my cat.  He is a fully licensed cat though.

I don't know. I suspect that the vast majority over there are AS,
if they claim it. Doesn't mean that they're not spoiled brats too,
but when one tends to think that it's all about them, that's what
happens. There are other things that REALLY piss me off about some
people there, but mainly those who just wine about how terrible every-
thing is. Again though, I do this too, to some extent - coming up with
excuses for why I can't do what I should do. But, at least one should
try to work within their limitations. I mean, if you spend your whole
day lolling in bed, and your mother is bringing you your food, maybe
you shouldn't be whining as much as some do.

Hell, I was pretty damned content having my wife take care of me.

Mmm, I was probably being harsh, but there are a couple of people who I just want to tell to grow up.

Some of my fondest memories are of when I was sick and my Mum looked after me....didn't last long though...well, not past grade 4!

Damn it.  Somebody said that eventually you have to grow up.  Killjoys.

Claiming to have AS and then using your (bullshit) self-diagnosis to solicit respect and victimize yourself appears to be all the rage with certain groups of younger teenagers nowadays. By "younger teenagers", I mean people who only a few years ago claimed themselves to be "sanguine Vampyres [sic]" just to stand out from the crowd. Then they discovered AS and began claiming to have that instead of donning fangs and painting their faces white. Clearly, a mysterious diagnosis that makes you stand out from the crowd and be "different" is good as far as many younger teens are concerned. I've seen a lot of kids online who claimed to have AS while, at the same time, clearly not having it. It all seemed to boil down to them wanting to be different and to stand out from the crowd. Sad.

Yes, that's my point.  I genuinely feel sorry for those who don't feel like they fit in and are victimized.  But when you start putting a tag on yourself to justify your whole life experiences, no I can't buy it.  Maybe I am lucky in some ways that I was diagnosed later because it made me try harder to make up for my gaps in being able to fit in.

Have discussed some of this with my psychologist and she agrees that some personality disorders are easy to present as AS.  Whereas this is not a personality disorder at all.

My thoughts exactly. And yet, some of these people aren't victimized at all; they're just what you label teen-age "brats" who want to be different from their peers. Wether they pretend to be "vampires" or "Aspies", the end result just becomes equally annoying; just like when some white kids pretend to be rappers.

Yes, it's all surface stuff.  There's one poster in particular who just makes my blood boil...mainly because you never see them post anything intelligent...for God's sake, it's high functioning autism and they can't even make an intelligent remark...ever.

anyway, it's just one person in particular that gripes me too much...but they are young...so maybe they can grow out of their AS!!

Yeah, you have hopes for someone like that at first.
I think I know who you mean. But even after a bit
of slapping around, they remain inane.

'Course, even the older folk around here manage
that most of the time.

weakest posts are probably the MOST
severely effected.
