I have mentioned this in other threads, already, but that is how I learned almost everything - by just doing it and imitating others. I still do it, but my daughter is the master. She can instantly echo-back complicated emotions and imitate all the inflections of speech, even accents, to a tee. Later on you notice her "trying out" all those new "drama queen" things she has just learned, but just laughs when you call her attention to it and try to talk about it. She's too young to really know what she is doing, I think.

i love imitating accents and ways of speaking. i love when people have unique accents like blends or somekinda unique way of talking. and also all sorts of mannerisms. and what kinds of expressions they have and how they move and walk. i find nothing as interesting as people. that's why i love to watch TV so much, you get to watch all those fascinating people without actually having to go and get involved in anything or talk to them or nuttin.

I'd been watching it disintegrate into a pub (there are plenty of threads debating it if you check the archives) but it's still good to see shit like this on occasion.

That the community as a whole has matured and in some ways become more tight-knit. A lot changes in seven years. There are a whole lot less callouts... maybe many of the people who needed empowering are now suitably empowered? We still don't have whining kids ala WrongPlanet, but we also don't have the same degree of hostility towards any form of weakness that was happening back then. There's been space to ease up.

Administration is stricter and less tolerant of bullshit. There used to be raging debates over what, if anything, was a suitable banning offense. It used to be interesting to cause trouble. Now, not so much.

The hoopla over cliques has also pretty much died. I don't know if that's more or less empowering than when there were obvious factions.
