Last year she (MY seventy six year old Mom) (edit: I said last year, but it was last Christmas, less than a month ago and such) sent me pecan brittle.
... and about seven pounds of freshly cracked and pealed pecans from her trees.
I made. FIRST, a quart of pecan butter (think peanut butter, but pecans instead of peanuts) then three pecan pies (yep, one every week), candied pecans in a pan, some spiced pecans - like party mix spices, but using pecans.
Then I made spiced nuts, with various spices from the garden, spices like coriander, nutmeg, fennel, cinnnamon from the store, horehound from the garden, (fucking impossible to remember the mint family grand father thing that makes awesome British tea blends - but I have it in my ) FUCKK!! stupid - it is Modarda and I have three varieties, but back to topic...
what were we talking about? I seem to drift off thinking about this shit.
OH Yeah, sweets and salty taffy and hard brittle and chewy things that make me dissolve.
monarda belongs inmost teas!! Salt belongs in most candies!!
Sorry I got so lost, but it is Monarda (there are about seven species that can grow in America, but there is ONE that is my favorite!) that goes in most teas!
