I got my fill of senseless unjust censorship in 7th through 10th grade. I got pissed enough at it during those years to last me the rest of my life. Now, i just can't spare the rage. Not that I wont eagerly vote against censorship bills, and vote for more freedom of speech bills, it is just that it has become entirely clear to me that besides that, there is almost nothing I can do. I argued with people for years, and changed like a handful of minds. So at least by arguing and indignation, i have seen no results.
Most of the minds i've seen changed were due to somebody appealing to a particular persons bias, and telling them something about the people they were originally siding with that offends them even more than the people they were siding against. And try to make it as out of context as possible, and hope they don't have any counter arguments. But even then, a disturbing proportion of people pick a side, and their loyalty(and desire to not be "proved" wrong) prevents them from reconsidering their position.
But nonetheless, in my experience, that cheapass tactic is worth dozens of more effective votes than arguing, and it requires far less pistivity.
