As for the elections being popularity contests- isn't that how most elections are run in the real world too?

Did I say otherwise?
Quote
And as far as I am aware- someone may know different since I wasn't here at the time- Dunc pointed out pretty early after the WC was abolished that rather than actually being a 'despot' he wanted to site to be run how it was before the WC and that their would still be elections and that people could still vote on issues.

Right. Effectively overriding the first and second
choices of what should be done in the post WC era,
to enforce the ONE choice which got absolutely no
votes.

But since he was a despot didn't he have the right to insist that people kept some form of democracy?? Surely a despot can do what the fuck he likes

Sure. It gives me NO reason to believe that
other votes shan't be treated as cavalierly though.

::)  Unless of course you look at it this way: perhaps Dunc felt strongly enough about keeping Intensity run by its members that he was willing to turn down despotic power and insist that we went back to the system we previously had.

I don't see that directly ignoring what the people
absolutely clearly seemed to be voting for as being
a good sign of a commitment to democracy in any
form.

Fuck, you can lead the masses to the polls, but
you can't keep them from surrendering their power,
in exchange for a bit less thinking.

But Ive not actually seen anyone complaining because things went back to how they were before the WC- where's the angry mob with their 'we want our despot to tell us what to do' signs??

True. Indeed, they actually seem to desire
to have what they specifically ignored in
the poll. Well, all depends on how the question
is phrased. IF you remind them in the poll
that they voted one way before, they tend
more towards that same vote. If you just
ask if they wanted to vote, they reverse.

I have absolutely no idea how to read such
idiocy. Except to taunt it, and hope it goes
away.

Actually we have always had the right as members to vote on any issue, right from the start before we even had elections for staff.

Ok. Seen no reason to believe that these are honored.
Indeed, Odeon made it clear that some would not be,
if they carried.

Notice, folks, how he never specifies his innuendos? Back up your shit, Cal, or just shut up. Homework, remember?

Actually, I DID, in this one case, since you have just done
it. Anyone paying attention will have seen it. Guess that's
something you avoid.

I don't owe you shit. That simple.
Someone I respect (and you've lost almost
all mine) asks, and I might. I suspect they've
seen it.
