In bygone days, they always made 70mm prints of the biggest attractions, as opposed to the usual 35mm prints. They had vastly superior image quality and six-channel magnetic sound. Many of the best ones ("Ben Hur", "Spartacus", "Lawrence of Arabia"...) were also filmed in 70mm and still have an unsurpassed image quality.
*sigh* Those were the days.
(I get to screen a 70mm short on Friday, though.
