That's because Hitler micro-managed the war.
Erich Von Manstein could've won WWII if given the chance.
I don't buy it. The resources were all in the
wrong hands. Certainly, given the political
decisions, it wouldn't be possible.
Manstein almost pushed the Russians back to the Ural Mts. If Hitler hadn't of interfered, think of all the resources at their disposal.
Always seen this as a fantasy.
But, even if the Urals could have
fallen, the condition of the German
economy was straining heavily under
the effort. US intervention pretty much
would have overcome anything that could
be gained temporarily.
I think that Hitler was trying to end the war
with the USSR early, by what he attempted.
