No you should turn around and say that you refused to give them a dumbed down test, and express your disappointment that they failed to rise to the challenge. That way they will prepare more for the next one and learn more.
I can't do that. The grades aren't as bad as I feared.
But, I do have to curve this - it has to be fair, in comparison
with other students who take the class.
They got a bonus out of taking the harder test.
No it doesnt, i wouldnt curve it very much. That way your students will actually work. Just because your predessor dumbed down the class doesnt mean you have to keep it dumbed donw.
It's mostly memorization shit.
I made it a little more interesting
than usual, but there isn't too much
that can be done about it.
Anyhow, I'm NOT going to penalize
them just for having me - they suffer
enough on that account. I'm just thinking
about giving them an opportunity to up
their grades, by fixing their answers as
homework.
Means more effort for me though, as well
as for them, and with a summer class, things
are pretty tight.
Not sure that it's that important.
