Well said, PI.

I don't get why a do not prank list wouldn't be made public - or heck, just posted in some public place rather than squirrelled away in the admin forum. Is the only reason to hide it, to save people embarrassment?

No.

Is that because none of the current staff are likely to prank, but the list is being kept in case pranksters are elected in future? Or was it just scrapped?

When the first do not prank list was posted in public it was quickly pointed out that people adding theirselves to this list might as well have put a big 'kick me' sign on their backs.

Other 'staff only' decisions were made.
Indeed, even when the WC existed,
it was clear that such were desirable
to the membership. This shocked me,
but there were a couple of votes which
highlighted this - even for non-critical matters.

The first do not prank me list in the public forum is the same as the one in the admin forum IIRC. So there is no need to add anything to the one in the admin forum. It hasn't been posted in for ages.

And I have pranked people in the last couple of weeks. :P

The fact that the list's existence was not revealed then (it is public enough now, it seems) simply happened, I think. Again, there was no malice, no evil plans. And considering that some of the admins then whined about anyone daring to complain about being pranked, it wasn't much of a stretch to assume that publishing that list would create more problems for anyone not willing to "be a good sport".
If people cannot be a good sport about a minor joke on an internet forum, I shudder to think how they take anything adverse irl. I thought this site was partially about toughening up people.

Not everyone liked to be pranked, remember? Some people left, or considered leaving, because of the pranks.
Wrong Planet is open to most of them, as I understand it.

As for what Hadron did or did not know, ask him. I don't really care.
I was aware after Cal implied it, and opposed it I recall.

Thankfully, none of the above is up to you.
At the moment, yes. I am sure another admin may pop along and have some fun, hopefully in the near future.

I'm NOT saying that the members should have been revealed.
Just that there should have been a means for the weakest here -
those without friendly staff having their best interests at
heart - perhaps those who even feel hounded by the friendly staff,
to have applied to the list.

You, in other words.

I was a member of the staff, at that point.
I could fix anything I was annoyed about.
Not that I wouldn't allow a prank against me
to run for a while. I have SOME sense of decency
about these things.

I was referring to "being hounded".

I know. That's kinda the point. Why it should have been public.

That I don't care if Hadron knew or not? You're being weird.

No. That you care about some, and not others - which is natural.
AND that you only were liable to extend the offer to those you cared
about enough to think that they MIGHT have had some objection to
being pranked.

Excuse me, but this is not what I said. If Hadron had wished to be on the no pranks list, I would have included him, and respected his decision. However, considering his words and actions then, the thought never crossed my mind. Also, since he was an admin at that point, I took for granted that he had seen the thread.

It is interesting to observe how you twist what others say or do to suit your interpretations. What's next?

I wasn't suggesting that the list should have been made public, but it seems off that its very exsistence was kept secret- I do believe there was no malicious thinking behind keeping it a secret, but the fact that it didn't occur to staff to anounce it to the membership is worrying.  Not least because, as cal points out, how could anyone who didn't happen to be friendly with an admin get their name on the list, but also because it makes you wonder what else it isn't occuring to staff members to mention.  Obviously this isn't much of an issue, being married to a staff member I trust 100% , but you must see that it may cause concern for other members. Perhaps it was just overlooked because people were tired of all the drama ???

The list's existence was not kept secret for very long at all, Purposeful Insanity, maybe for a week or two while we were discussing it and figuring out what would happen with people who were on it.  Its existence is public now.  It was started at Dunc's suggestion and it was just meant for staff to honor as a gentleman's agreement, I think.  Although Calandale suggested that there be some sort of official sanctions against admins who prank someone on the list, I don't think anyone else supported that idea.  As you said, it was pointed out that anyone who put their names on the public Don't Prank Me list were pasting a giant Kick Me sign on their backs to be pranked by other members.  If someone expressed their desire not to be pranked by staff either publicly, like on the public Don't Prank Me list, or in private, they were added to the list, as far as I know.  There were some people who were upset enough by the admin pranks that they were ready to leave, so all the staff at the time pretty much agreed to honor the list.  Renaeden's correct that it has not been posted in for quite some time.  I have no intention of pranking anyone who is on it, though.

I'm not the only one who's claimed such.

Again, that's exactly what I'm accusing you of. Those who
didn't "cross your mind" knew nothing of it.

The secret list appeared after his removal, IIRC.

I've twisted nothing. You just choose to see what
I state as such, for some reason.
