That's bad. Bad enough to get you a refund for part of your service charge, perhaps? I'd fucking ask.

Unfortunately, BT's own speedtester gives much different results, and I doubt they'd accept a third party speedtester.

Zen is very expensive.  :(

I just checked the 'use port 80' box, and my speed jumped way up:  http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/11765940404016266811.html

Is BT restricting the speed on other ports?

Right now I'm with BT broadband, on their 'up to 8Mb' package, for about £28 a month.

That's with a 20GB cap though.  My current package is unlimited (though there's a fair use policy, but it used to be a 40GB cap on my current package, so the fair use policy can't be for less than that).  The 'unlimited' Zen package is £35.

Yeah.  I've downloaded 18GB in the past couple of weeks through torrents.

It's not their job to care; just to make as much profit as possible.  Unfortunately, that means pocketing all the money we're paying them, rather than using it to lay more fibre and build more exchanges.

Ask whoever set up the internet connection you use, then check out the reviews for it and run some speed tests.
