Hey, I could go for that. It's the monotony that would get to me in heaven.
What monotony? Ever read Tolkien's "Leaf By Niggle"? That's what Heaven is believed to be like. A happy place, but a place where there is actually work to do.

So far, I've never heard anyone make a convincing argument as to what there is in Hell worth experiencing or "reigning over".

The bore that is Tolkien alone would make me consider hell.

"Leaf by Niggle"  is far better than LOTR. I like "Farmer Giles of Ham better though"

Well, it's true. Nobody ever told him that he doesn't have to describe every fucking plant on the way to Mordor.

Have you seen the scene in Clerks 2 where he summarises the plot of the trilogy?

"Those fucking Hobbit movies were boring as hell."

I found "Bored of the Rings" much more enjoyable.

I'd rather read LOTR again than watch the movies again.  Maybe I'd like them better if I wasn't so shit at recognizing faces or giving a fuck about movies.

Suffering is a kind of pleasure.

Ever see the twilight zone* episode where a criminal dies and we follow him through the afterlife?  He discovers that he can have his ever wish, just by asking for it.  He likes it at first, but soon grows tired of it.  Finally, he says to his "guide" in this place:  "I'd like to go to the other place."  Answer:  "This IS the other place."  hell is what you don't want it to be.

*it might have been the outer limits.  They're interchangeable in my mind.  One or the other, though.
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.

You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

No. But it reminds me of Bestler short story.
Involved being able to travel through time
and change things. The more he changed,
the more he disappeared into his own reality.

Suffering for a cause trumps suffering for its own merits. Achieving a cause without suffering... that's the one I don't know how to rank.
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.
