My perpetual bitch is that almost no one says the Pledge of Allegiance correctly. It's
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under G_d, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
There is no comma before "under G_d" and therefore there should be no pause before the words.
BTW, here are all the versions of the Pledge. Changes are in bold.
1892
I pledge allegiance to my flag and the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
1892 to 1923
"I pledge allegiance to my flag and to the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
1923 to 1924
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States and to the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
1924 to 1954
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
1954 to Present
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
