Got an email from work. They may......, if there are not enough volunteers......., take my Monday May the second from me.

FFS, it still is a maybe.... But, I was really looking forward to that day, and now they are warning me they may take it away from me. I hate power play like that. Absolutely hate it.
Not the first time they did power-play like this.

Oh, all people who have taken that week off for holidays are excluded. I did not take off the whole week, just May the third, to make it a kind of mini holiday.
I hope I am safe from this shit. But they have already spoiled my looking forward to it.

It's a universal problem. I spent 4.5 hours there, but only 15 mins with the doc.

I remember when the Princess Royal was 4 and had a febrile seizure.  We called 911 and they dispatched an ambulance.  PA and I followed in the car.  I'm in the intake section giving the insurance information when a nurse comes in and says, "You're the mother?  We need you now."  When they think the patient is more important than the insurance information you know it's serious.  Anyway, it took about 6 very long hours to stop the seizing. 

Ever since then I've been very glad to patiently wait my turn in the ER.

Don't get me wrong. It's not their fault and I understand that I was put back in the line when more urgent cases arrived. I was in pain, that's all.

Bad luck. Lots of emergencies, for some reason. I talked to the nurse and she said the day had been mad.

Odeon, I wasn't criticizing you.  Just relating how "nice" it can be to visit the emergency room without being scared out of your wits. 

Just to show you some idiocy:  the PR broke her leg.  At one point in the healing process she was complaining about the leg hurting.  Since she was in a hip to toe cast (and has Cerebral Palsy) I couldn't manage her into the car.  We called an ambulance since the school was paying all the bills (she broke her leg in PE).  Well, it's the hospital's policy to take ambulance cases first.  So she was taken car of immediately, although it really was a low level priority if we had driven up.

There's a major fault that's affecting the BT phone lines in my area; I've been cut off from the internet for the past couple of weeks, along with possibly thousands of other people, and the most recent estimate from BT was that it would take another couple of weeks to repair the fault.  I got an O2 mobile internet dongle today, and it's giving me internet access at the moment.
