It has bothered me lately, to hear of people saying, "Oh I'm a bit OCD like that" or "That's so OCD!" when really they have no clue about how the condition can really take over your life and affect everything you do. That is all I can think of to say...

I know what you mean, and having read about people far more constricted by it than I ever was, I realize I was lucky...but anguish is the word I used upthread,
 and it is the right word.

i find that kinda thing annoying too - you get it with everything. ie. social anxiety ("oh i have a friend who's really shy") , migraines (("oh yeh i get headaches too")

with mental disorders it's more common because they're things that everyone does to an extent. like practically everyone does little ocd things like counting their steps or always doing something in a certain way. i have loads of those. but it's when it affects your life to a ridiculous extent and fucks you up nthat ie becomes a disorder. that's why i differentiate between little obsessive compulsive things i do, and fuill blown OCD

like loads of NTs do aspie things. it's when these things have a real impact on your quality of life that they become the disorder

I have trouble NOT hurling my guts to the sun, every time I hear the phrase, "cookie dough ice cream."  I will never ever try it!!

The repulsion I feel for this "interrupted"  item of fine cuisine, can not be resolved.


The idiot cunts at work who take our abandoned pocket pennies into a collection to buy us all treats were So happy with themselves to show up with a cake made of cookie dough ice cream for everyones pleasure.

I just told them I was going to scoop out a handful from the middle and puke in the hole.  My puke would not change the dish one iota.

Give her time.

Milla has good days and bad days, just like all of us. She also sleeps at odd times of the day, just like many of us. (yes, she and I have had a number of run-ins, but that does little to make me set aside the "love" I feel for her - let her have her own time to find you. Do not get too crazy)

Give her time to respond to you before you "write her off."

I had a psychologist telling me all people are a bit autistic. (And therefore I was not really on the spectrum.....)

I guess she'll be saying the same about OCD. It's a perfect way of not taking people serious.

I really hate those. The worst kind are the ones that have their preconceived notions of what AS is, and if you don't meet their criteria you can't possibly be autistic.
