This sounds kind of flippant, sorry, I saw the "major alterations" and my mind went in a smartass direction. I hope you & hubby have had a talk about this and cleared the air.

If so, then I think I would ask hubby who is going to wear the dress, your daughter or him?

Then I would go out and get a sewing machine to support my future work along these lines.

I have a sewing machine.  It just needs to be fixed.  Husband doesn't like going to school functions, too many people in a gym with bad acoustics.  So he was out of sorts.  And I wasn't in the best of moods because of the unreasonable expectations I have for myself, but hey, I'm getting better about accepting less than totality and perfection.

Anyway, we're all in an unsettled state now because there are going to be changes soon.  A major change that will have good and bad.  Don't want to go into detail because I use I^2 to blow off steam.  People may identify me from other sites if I reveal to much of myself.  I^2 is the place where I leave my wickedness out.  I'd like to do that and keep the relationships on other sites separate so drama doesn't flow from one to the other.

Well, I hope the changes go well. But that's no reason for your husband to get cranky about your daughters dress. It's her choice really, and thrift shops are cool places to get something different that not everyone's wearing.

One day he won't have school functions to go to and the small effort he has to make now is nothing to make a nice memory for her, that's what he should try to focus on.
