i cant imagine what itd be like at 48 WITH the humidity near the ocean. i bet people died from that.

People died, but it was because they got trapped in the fires. Maybe some oldies died through heatstroke, but as the Saturday was the 4th consecutive day over 43 C, nobody knows for sure.

In NYC last week they had "cooling stations" opened for people because of the heat and humidity.  I am on the coast so we get sea breezes in the afternoon most of the time
