While I had a great time in Boston this weekend, I also spent a lot of time reflecting on my Mum. I would always call her when I was up there so she could feel like she was there. Being the stunning conversationalist Aspie that I am, most of my conversations revolved around sports, in particular the Boston Red Sox, as well as the Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots. Other than that, we talked about how awful my wife treats me and even the kids at times. This just added to her stress and I feel guilty for that. Anyway, I went down to Quincy Market to Carol Anne's Bake Shop and bought a half-moon cookie in her honor. She used to get those for me as a kid, and as an adult I would buy them by the dozen on special order, and drag them back to Virginia for her.
This morning I woke up to find my 9-year old Clown Loach Nemo dead. I rushed home yesterday when I got the word he was sick and administered medicine to his tank, but I suppose it was too late. He had been immune to everything else that the tank went through over the years and was a good fish...a part of the family. He'll be missed. I will be raising my glass all day in his honor. Drinks are on me all night! For Nemo!
