One of my brothers had that happen to him and spent a week in the hospital
Ditto, but his was ruptured, his fever skyrocketed, he collapsed at work and the emergency room doctors thought they had a ruptured appendix on their hands. They went in to do an emergency appendectomy and found a perfectly healthy appendix.
They immediately began exploratory surgery to find the cause and OMG what a cause they found. They estimated that the problem had been a consistent issue for weeks before it ruptured and they removed over twelve pounds of fecal matter from his intestinal cavity along with a section about a foot long from his large intestine. We almost lost him.
