Is it the winter the skin on my  fingers crack but I work out in the cold

My hands get very dry if I handle boxes much. They seem to crack easier in the cold now.

... and they smell. Even the unscented ones have a gross smell. I have to used some, though.

They smell, yes. They are awful and sticky and I get into sensory overload. But they help, too. The print inspection used to be very bad for my fingers. Now I can live with it.

I feel the same way about them and even hate the feeling of them on my hands though I know it helps

I use something called "Eucerin Cream", no smell and not icky at all.

I used some Burt's Bees wax stuff for awhile but my wife hated the smell so much I had to keep it in my truck and put it on on the way to work

Well, I still rarely use any sort of cream outside the film festivals. Too icky.

most likely change in temperature - we've had subzero temperatures for about a week, then back to 10C/50F ish. arsebiscuits

I told mum that this cheap 'bedroom rated' laminate flooring wouldn't survive in my room, but even I didn't expect it to start cracking and chipping after just a couple of months.

That was quick I've used it before but never had problems like that and it was only$.99 a square foot

Things need to be pretty rugged to survive around me.  This laminate is rated for occasional light use; someone getting in and out of bed and walking around in slippers for a few hours a day, not someone rolling over it in a big computer chair for 16 hours a day, walking over it in hiking boots and constantly grinding grit into it that Waggy sheds from the garden, plus subjecting it to frequent splashes of water and impacts.
