No, it's not. Islam isn't about suicide bombings and such, even though there are people doing these things in the name of the religion. I wish people would understand this--it could well defuse some of the problem.

People DO. The arguments that I've
seen merely point out the violence in
the Koran, as well as in certain fatwahs.

Now, when there are people following
a path of violence, AND the religion's texts are
filled with examples of violence, it seems pretty
natural to make a connection.

Equally to say that Christianity WAS a religion of
violence - but is less so now. Sure, there are large
numbers of Muslims who oppose violence, but it's
rather their own duty to distance themselves from
the extremists. I haven't seen that done strongly,
especially in the near east. Only Turkey seems to
come close, and that's really the secular military -
in opposition to the Muslims.
