the Koran, as well as in certain fatwahs.

a path of violence, AND the religion's texts are
filled with examples of violence, it seems pretty
natural to make a connection.

Equally to say that Christianity WAS a religion of
violence - but is less so now. Sure, there are large
numbers of Muslims who oppose violence, but it's
rather their own duty to distance themselves from
the extremists. I haven't seen that done strongly,
especially in the near east. Only Turkey seems to
come close, and that's really the secular military -
in opposition to the Muslims.

You need to look more closely, but yes, Christianity is less violent these days.

or the 30 years war, but also even such tactics as
bombing abortion clinics - in no uncertain terms.

Nor have I seen much evidence of sects which
promote these. One can't blame religion alone
for the violence in the near east, but it's a major
component.

I expect more harsh repudiation than I've seen.
Certainly, financial support for groups which have
any links to violent dogma should be stopped, by
anyone seriously claiming that Islam is a religion
of peace.

The whole whitewashing attempt on the term
Jihad is despicable. Like Crusade, it has far too

a larger degree, the religion is tied in to politics
