that's true. i just don't like the "underhandedness" of it, to be honest. but i s'pose there's not a lot else i can do - there's loads of them, and only one of me.

seems so. i didn't actually see them, but they did take details of where i am, and work out where the noise was, and said they'd send a car. could be coincidence, i suppose.
Next time they do it, get some ear muffs on and start driving up and down the streets playing opera on max volume. See who wins then. Just hope you dont get arrested for violating the kids "human rights"
I have a friend who did something similar to his downstairs neighbor after several polite requests to the neighbor to turn down his music were ignored. I think it was either Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture or Handel's Royal Fireworks Music he played over and over with his enormous speaker facing downward on the floor with the volume set on stun.
His neighbor got the point.
Of course I don't recommend making your other neighbors suffer again because of the actions of one obnoxious person.
