I love the bass shit they did! 

The popular version of why Peter Hook played so much in the bass's upper register was so he could hear himself over Bernard sumner's guitar. I've always thought his sound was totally original and perfectly matched to Bernard's guitar, Ian's vocals and Steve Morris's drumming.

We were classmates at UVa and I'd help them out a lot and video shows. Very good! Bummed when they split shortly after graduation. Smart dudes had big offers from companies and they decided not to take advantage of career opportunites. You can get both of their albums on iTunes. A couple of the members are now a part of the band Naked Grace. We keep in touch. This particularly album was produced by the same guy who produced the debut CD 'Churn' from Seven Mary Three, some good friend's of mine. I met them while at UVa. They were at William & Mary and would come up to Charlottesville every couple of weeks to play shows on Alternative Thursdays at Trax aka Crossroads aka Trax aka demolished and replaced with UVa Hospital clinic.

Much like The Charlatans UK, I do not understand how The Mighty Lemon Drops never made it to the mainstream. Everything they put out is just great! I had the pleasure of seeing them once at Bogart's in Cincinnati, OH. Amazing show! They actually have a bootleg out there from this show. Highly recommended!!!!

My first* concert was Midnight Oil on the 'Blue Sky Mining' Tour at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. Pretty awesome when they could say, "where the grey metal ships call home" and point to just outside the joint. Awesome show! Rob Hirst is one of my favorite drummers. Peter Garrett is an someone I admire greatly. He wiped his head off and tossed the sweat on me in the front row. Saw them on the 'Earth and Moon and Sun' Tour as well. Gotta respect a band that lives what they preach.

*Technically my first concert was Kenny Rogers with Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers opening, but I was a kid and not there of my own free will. Although I do admit it was a pretty good show. Laser lights and everything!!!
