The Fabulous Thunderbirds, miscellaneous playlist.

(I have a lot of music from these guys and a high regard for them)

Good group!   8)

Yep, and the lead guitar player is about four or five years older than we are.

:D.

Right now, I'm about as close to Hip-Hop as I ever get.

Isn't the Lead Guitarist Steve Ray Vaughn's brother??

Yes and he proved it to me by giving me his wallet, once.

(another crazy example of how much trust musicians place in sound tech guys  :D )

Actually, I just went to his website, because I had not heard much about this group in a long time. Apparently he quit the band after his brother died to tour with that group and never re-joined The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

The article ends ...

"Yet for all his accomplishments and the admiration he has earned, Jimmie Vaughan remains modest when it comes to his life and work. "I'm just trying to have fun like everyone else," he concludes. "I've been playing since I was 13. I play every day. I've never stopped. I can't imagine that I could exist without it.""

It was a cool time, in general.

When you think about it, though, these guys often walk away and trust us sound guys with their instruments while they re-set or what ever. I can guarantee there is nothing in a wallet that comes close to the personal value of an instrument that you have lived with for years at a time.

Yeah, Billboard, Guitar Player, several record label and jazz sites that I browse all have RIP threads going right now.

I read that he was only forty one years old.

Very sad!
