Years ago watched an Oprah a segment on watermelon recipes. Oprah said a lot of black people wont eat watermelon because they don't want to be mocked for it. It's tragic people are so scarred by racism to feel self conscious about something as simple as enjoying a piece of fruit. Aren't people wonderful?

FYI "Coon" is the British equivalent of the N-Word.  Reggie has used it a couple of times now.  If he did that in the street in the UK it would constitute a criminal offence and he knows it.

The history of this place is full of all kinds of hate being thrown around in many directions. Solieyu and even Lit in his early days were notorious racists but we tolerated them because this was first and foremost, a free speech site.

Tend to have a bit of compassion for people who seem to genuinely worry about accidentally doing or saying something to be perceived as racist. Since bigotry can sometimes be constructed around reading between the lines, it's probably not difficult to accidentally do. That must be stressful.

Joined a decade ago with the full realization bigotry is tolerated in multiple forms, and since then that perception hasn't changed. Do think a serious line was crossed, but this isn't it.
