The idea, and some of the links came from work, encouraging people to vacate from the news and anxiety maybe.

I really liked the sheep in Parts' New York live cams post, so I'm inspired by that.  :zoinks:

Those are good. The fourth one, the fly, reminds me of first job in a small crappy amusement park. They're called wild mouse coasters, small cars with lots of sharp turns. Oddly, find them a lot more frightening than the large coasters.

I've been on a rollercoaster called the Wild Mouse when I was a kid. It did have a lot of sharp turns. I didn't know it was a descriptive term used for a certain type of rollercoaster.

The Leviathan would scare the pants off me were I to go on it.

Can't remember what that one was called, rat race or mouse trap, something mouse related, and the cars were painted to look like mice. Local amusement park has one similar, but without the mouse reference. They're really freaky because of feeling like falling out at any given moment. Prefer the large coasters a lot more though, because they're a much smoother ride.

There's a really famous demo reel for the 70mm Todd-AO format, "The Miracle of Todd-AO", that features a first-person POV roller-coaster ride. We ran that in my garage a couple of years ago and it was still really impressive, 60+ years after it was made.

I have a friend who travels with a group of people specifically to ride coasters around the world. He'd be all over that!

Things like that are better on a big screen. The first POV experience ever had was a 'ride' in a theme park. It was a 180 theater with film containing things like roller coasters, hang gliding, bicicling, and similar whatnot. Most people sat in the floor, but there was also a railing at the back of the room so people could stand. Have a lifetime history of issues with motion sickness, not nearly as bad now as in childhood. Can still only handle brief sessions of that sort of thing without feeling iffy.

^I experienced something similar as a teenager. I watched most of them unaffected but then came this car one on a sandy twisty-turny track. I actively felt quite sick!

I enjoyed the demo reel but real roller-coasters are definitely not my thing. I don't get motion sickness, I get terrified.
