What is grilled cheese exactly?
Over here, it means a sandwich with cheese in the middle and nothing else. Now, getting into how to make really fine grilled cheese sandwich quickly becomes quite complicated. My favorite way is to actually use the open fire grill and smoke up the bread as it is being toasted, while you melt the cheese with the same smoky fire. Most simply, it is some bread and some cheese. You figure out the way you want to be.Generally there is no clean up, except for all the eating.

Put the sandwich in a pan and cook until golden brown on one side, and then flip it to brown the other side. We usually have them with tomato soup. Here's a picture.
I love tomato soup! This meal would be lovely in winter.
Since my daughter (10 years old) found out on youtube what sausages are made out of, it's about the only thing she will eat off the gas barbecue.
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!

Well the name "grilled cheese" implies to me that it's just cheese by itself. No bread. Here they're called grilled cheese sandwiches.
A cheese sandwich.
