I came through repeated mentionings of Intensity on AFF. I was curious and either finally asked or figured out where to go. I think I asked someone and then came here to check things out. The rest, as they say, is history.

I heard about Intensity from On The Spectrum, a site I went to after GA (Kayleigh) was demodded and banned from WP.

I joined Intensity just before Christmas in 2006.

I kind of missed the gist of the purge at WP.

Came back on after a hiatus and found half of the posters that I enjoyed gone.

Saw a few posts about Intensity, googled a few user names like a creepy stalker.

Lurked for around a year trying to decide it I really wanted to join another forum...especially when the only things intense about me was my vacuum collection at the time and a love of port wine.

Curious, was intensity more of a haven from havens, or was it your first destination?

If people bounce here from instability in other sites, our strategy (moving forward) is clear. Find folks who have good connections with folks on other forums, turn them against those forums, then get them to come here. Or, infiltrate and destabilise other forums so that folks will slowly trickle here. Or go to other forums and begin bad mouthing this place to such a point that it stirs up a massive debate, then folks will come curious- the downside of this is that they will bring the debate here and disturb our hard earned peace.

just kidding, dont do that. seriously i am just kidding. not advocating subversive tactics. I think we are simply a wonderful little island that folks will slowly ooze into, and many will stay, or continue to return (loik meh). Theres something about this place...

But of course, theres more who could vote and destroy that hypothesis.

I don't mind the anything goes nature of I^2. Different forums have different structures and different ways of dealing with drama. And the attitude of simply letting drama run its course seems fine to me. It's interesting to interact with such a range of characters who would obviously get banned almost anywhere else. Drama just seems so petty when it's based around an arbitrary set of rules and who broke what rule and when and by how much.

I don't remember where I first heard Intensity mentioned, but it must have been Neurolands, which I was investigating after one of the mod purges on WP. Actually I distinctly remember WolFish (then Neuroman) telling people in the WP mod forum that the ship was sinking and it was time to evacuate, and me telling him exactly where to stick it and that I would jump ship on my own terms, not by someone else's judgement.

Then more drama went down, as has been detailed elsewhere, and McJ and other refugees landed on some temporary forum, and I PM'ed him telling him to get his shit together and get an independent host, and then there was I².
