Of course, once you do that you get to bankrupt them in discovery, even if you don't really have a case.

I used the word "opined" in an essay and my tutor drew a circle around it and put a question mark there. There is such a word, I know there is.

I know the feeling.  When I was a university auditor, I used the word "criterion" appropriately in a report.  My boss made me change it to criteria "because it looks better."  Excuse me, but this report is going to a PHD head of a department!!!!!

I remember when Rod Serling used the word "synergy" in the introduction to a Twilight Zone episode.  It wasn't well known or used before then.
