Been to wales myself MOSW, there are some great camping spots around. Nicest place I've been I think, was a camp site close to lake Bala, just winging it in a tent, brought some basics, I.e meat and things to cook it in, eggs, the stuff you can't easily just find, like bacon, and relied on a pre-breakfast hike up the mountains to go find the rest of a breakfast, coming back with a bag full of the freshest mushrooms going, straight from the hillside, hedgehog fungi, slippery jack boletes, larch boletes, oyster mushrooms fresh off the tree. SO much tastier than the often soggy oyster mushrooms from the shops.
All fried up, bacon, sausages, fried eggs and beans with whatever goodies could be scavenged. Works up right appetite, all the climbing and foraging for several hours. Guaranteed to make a simple meal like that taste like heaven
