Black Box?
It's in the plane.
But if we just look for the black box we don't need to keep looking for everything else, because the black box will tell us where the plane is, right?
Always understood the purpose of the box to be of more importance after the fact as a data recorder of events prior to crash.

Because it's easier to look for a small box than a large plane.

Beacon on the black box will only transmit for a limited time before the battery dies, and then you have to be fairly close to it's location if I understand it right.
*nod*  I was trying for sarcasm (see odeon's comment above), then I heard on the news they thought they might be finding it via black box because the thing sends signals out (somehow I hadn't known that), and realized it actually wasn't an idiotic notion after all.

I think you'd fit in a 12" or at least a 16" firework mortar
You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

Yes and that is what I was trying to suggest. Hang on....how was it an idiot notion in the first place?
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Also wasn't aware the box emitted a signal until looking it up, though read the signal only transmits two miles, so probably not very helpful.

And the box is most likely dead now. No more signals.
