Thanks to changes to the legislation, illegal firearms may now be handed over to the police without punishment for illegal possession of a firearm, provided that the owner of the firearm does it of his own initiative. The firearm is then stored while the owner applies for a permit.

That would never happen in Sweden. We have an overall weapon "amnesty" until the last of this month, but only for confiscation and destroying of illegal guns. No new licenses. I'm actually happy on behalf of the Finns that they're no longer part of this cowardly country.

Seriously though, guns aren't the only issue.
There can be no "freedom" if the government
can impose it's will on the citizens, without their
consent. And their consent comes from not
rising in armed rebellion. Just about anything
else can be manipulated far too easily.

I know that too. That's the reason why I get so furiously pissed off on people who don't understand that it should be the citizens God given damned right to have guns and use them to kill the oppressors, if necessary.
