What's in YOUR water?
« on: August 01, 2016, 08:18:14 AM »
In Florida we filtered our water on recommendation from Py's workmates but this was substantiated when we left some unfiltered tap water on the counter and it developed worm like moving things. In Montreal we have heard the same thing about how bad the water is but have not tested it. The plants seem OK with it.

No filtering the water you swim in, and Py and I both got sick swimming at Daytona Beach. Apparently some days are worse than others for bacterial growth.

No contest with Rio, though. I can't believe they are going to hold the games in that water.

I don't know, but I think I unloaded on Lestat in another thread.  Mea culpa.

Where I lived in Florida there was a lot of sulfur in the water giving it weird flavor and smell , if you had a well it was a lot worse though my cousin seemed to love it and would fill up bottles from my uncles well even though tap water was available  :zombiefuck:

Were I live in Ct the water is fine most of the time though sometimes it's a bit over chlorinated,  still we filter most of what we drink.  Some parts of the state have issues with uranium contamination   :zombiefuck:

Our water company is forever getting fined by the DEP, half the employees were caught dipping into the till and were fired, the lines are all shit according to the guys that are forever working on them. But it's safe to drink...or so we're told, and not flammable....yet.

We've been sticking to bottled water mostly for the last 2 years, and have it filtered.

How does uranium get into the water?
when we lived in northampton we would get annual reports about the water safety. they always had disclosures of higher than allowed levels of bacteria related compounds. the reports always ended with a statement that no long term effects had been reported from consumption of the water.

I know there is fluoride in our water and sometimes when I start a shower I can smell chlorine.

It seeps into the well water from mineral deposits it that part of the state.  It's not super high level or anything but above the limits allowed.  I think they are more worried about heavy metal poisoning it can cause  than the radioactive aspect,  I worked in one of the areas and they used the water for everything but drinking and cooking

The rivers and oceans have been silent dumping grounds for a long time...they're worse than some of the landfills, just ask anyone who dives in them.

Sunken cars, boats, tv's, old carpet, appliances....you name it, it's in there.

Yep, probably strapped to a lawn chair next to that sunken WWII bomber in Pittsburgh.

At home, our water is actually exceptionally clean. Several people have tested it.
