We have a three day weekend here too. But ours is for Thanksgiving. Py and I celebrate both. Today I am going hunting for turkey thighs, and failing that, we will get a whole turkey.
Failing that, I may have to make a trip to the USA to hunt weeble. I hear they are self-basting and quite tasty roasted over an open fire. Since it's a three day weekend and not U.S. Thanksgiving, there should be hordes of them flocking to malls in search of sales.
In one place I lived while in MA, the house was nearly in the woods. We used to get wild turkeys raiding the bird feeder (at least they chased off the squirrels). The feeder was about 15 feet from our front door. One year we didn't see any until the day after Thanksgiving, when seven of them came to the bird feeder and stared stupidly at us when we opened the door to take the picture. Wish I knew where that pic was.
