Yeah, I'm curious of exactly what population you are refering to
When it comes to genetic tracing, humans are especially challenging because we DO move around in a very "logical" manner, defying weather and nature, where most animals are contained in their habitat pockets. Like the whole neanderthal business, it's an uncomfortable thought to consider, having remnant genes from another species, surviving in ours, like a hybrid, freak of nature...
But if that's how it is, then that's how it is, and most likely - however it is - it's gonna turn out to be pretty fucking chaotically complex.
I love to remind myself, whenever they find another molar or a piece of jaw, they give it a name.
That's all we have, for now, some molar. That molar represents millions of individuals, across time, of that species.
We work the hell out of that molar, squeeze it for everything its worth, cus it's what we got to work with
Across
our time, however, we have plenty of more digging to do. Archaeological digs are, like, a few metres across, at best, 10-12 nerds, usually some professor and his lil crew of students, stone-blocks of a ton each, it takes time! There's a lot of ground to cover!
