Wow, you were young. And no one thought to tell you you may have issues with non-verbal cues, etc?
I was 27 when I found out.
The speech therapist tried telling me... but little did she know, I hated her for making fun of me.
What a piece of garbage ... in the wrong career!
I never had any kind of therapy, other than being slapped for not making proper eye contact or not answering quickly enough -
I was still considering all sides before answering!!
Or being slapped for the many almost constant questions I asked that no one wanted to answer, let alone deal with having a five or seven year old even think of asking.
Autism was not really a societal conciousness thing in the late '50s and early '60s.
BUT, we had great luck with the therapists in the 2Ks who helped our kids in many ways.
