Not that I remember.  I think I was bickering with a lot of people on a lot of threads that year.  Don't know how much that contributed.

Although drama does tend to drive up site activity in the short run, in the long run people get tired of it (at least most of us do) and leave to other sites or activities.

I went away in 2008-9 largely for that reason. I had way too much drama and conflict IRL and didn't need even more of it online.

I'd go so far as to wager that the recent drop in posting is due to a few members who are primarily looking to stir shit.   ;)
