Dogs aren't colorblind
I did not know that theory had been discredited, my mistake.
I'd love to know if there is racism among animals. I'd also love to know how one would find out.
While dogs are colorblind, a DVM I know through family pointed out that a litter of pups she found refused to associate with one of their littermates because he had a different coat than they did.
That was the best example I could come up with
Could be that the other critter not only had different fur, but was different in behaviour or scent too. Maybe different father?
Some critters do have personal likes and dislikes, like humans. And runts in a litter can get kind of second class treatment too.
As far as I know, all of the pups had the same father, and the pup in question was not the runt.
But is it racism?
Could be all kinds of reasons this pup was singled out.
Racism is something that is taught to people. It can be taught to dogs too. Heard the story of someone getting a dog out of a pet shelter, and he had to completely re-train the dog, because the dog had been trained to be aggressive towards people of the wrong colour. Have met a sexist dog not long ago too. He hated men.
