That's been chipped away at for a long time though.
That's correct, and a lot of people probably wanted to trust the Obama administration. This country needs something to remind it what it is; just not certain what that would be.

There is nothing anymore, really. All social engineering projects which have been implemented in the U.S. have been a success, starting with the minorities and ending in the present time with the middle class. The populace is now completely dependent on the whims of it's government who has been employed by corporate interests for a very long time.

The only possible way the U.S. would be brought out of it's stupor is a tragedy. A flat out attack from their own government, and I doubt even that would be enough.

Like 911,  look at all the shit that brought to the country, no thanks.

HEh, unfortunately it would have to be a lot worse.

You're probably right, but it would have to be an attack people actually believe to be a government attack; that's why 911 wasn't good enough.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a tragedy that deeply effects everyone. Something too catastrophic to ignore.

I am thinking of a different situation that'd make a difference.  military rock up all suited up for their "drill" and a million Texas rangers and militia say "stand down and back away. No military drills in Texas. Any closer and it won't be a drill"
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Rage is right; other people probably wont care enough in general about what's happening in Texas, outside of some spectacle on their TV. Jack is honest in being no exception to that.

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Record rainfall wreaked havoc across a swath of the U.S. Midwest on Sunday, causing flash floods in normally dry riverbeds, spawning tornadoes and forcing at least 2,000 people to flee. Officials said Saturday at least one person died in the flooding in Hays County, reports CBS affiliate KEYE in Austin.

About 350 homes in the town of Wimberley were washed away by flash floods along the Blanco River, which rose 26 feet in just one hour and left piles of wreckage 20 feet high, Texas authorities said.

I'm thinking of something even more ambitious. Drop me a line, bro.

9/11 was just another weird news story to most, as well. There was a war, but most were numbly disconnected to it. In fact, I would venture to say any other country but my own was more clued about that conflict.

That's because the government learned its lesson through government protest during the Vietnam war, in regard to allowing the media piping war into people's homes. Journalists aren't allowed to show it and americans aren't allowed to see it.
