That is definitely a fair evaluation. With things signed into law like the patriot act, the NDAA, and the upcoming trans pacific partnership I do not trust my government and I would be a fool if I did.

It's not simply a mindset. Distrusting the government is built into the fundamental civic structure of the US. It's why leaders can't serve for very long, and citizens have a constitution and bill of rights designed to protect them from those in power. It is in fact the American way, and no, not the same everywhere.

That's correct, and a lot of people probably wanted to trust the Obama administration. This country needs something to remind it what it is; just not certain what that would be.

There is nothing anymore, really. All social engineering projects which have been implemented in the U.S. have been a success, starting with the minorities and ending in the present time with the middle class. The populace is now completely dependent on the whims of it's government who has been employed by corporate interests for a very long time.

The only possible way the U.S. would be brought out of it's stupor is a tragedy. A flat out attack from their own government, and I doubt even that would be enough.
