First Football Game. Advice please?

Going to my first (American ) college Football game with my boyfriend.  He is a fanatic and has been tailgating & sitting with the same group (mostly work colleagues) for years.  I don't want to embarrass him.  And I certainly don't want to melt down.

About all I know is that it will be noisy and maybe cold outside. I've been advised to wear team colors. I don't know anything else about stadium rules, group customs or what to take or what to expect.

Advice please?

Welcome back. Look up the stadium online, to find out what personal items are allowed into the stadium and what isn't.

Yeah, if you bring a backpack or large bag, it will be searched, so don't bring anything illegal. Depending on your seats it'll probably be windy.

Team colors is a good idea. There will be local college chants, just follow what the people around you are doing.

Bathrooms might be crowded and dirty.

Don't cheer for the wrong team.

When the other team's offense is on the field, try to make as much noise as possible prior to the snap to make it hard for their Quarterback to communicate with his team.

When your offense is on the field, keep quiet prior to the snap so YOUR Quarterback can communicate with his team.

That's how you give your team a "home field advantage"

• Dress warmer than you think you'll need to. Layers are good.
• Bring a seat cushion, if you want to. The seats will be uncomfortable.
• Plan for inclement weather. Bring a small umbrella and poncho if there's the possibility of rain, and stadium policy allows you to.

• Stay away from drunk people. Many fans take football very seriously.

Personally I would find another boyfriend.

But then, I really hate football.  

The only time I ever found it fun to watch is before most of the fields had artificial turf... seeing them sloshing around in the mud and sleet was interesting.

Just follow everyone's lead and you'll be fine.
