Well technically medieval Islam was a lot more progressive than what these fundie groups are pushing in modern times.

That's a fairly well known fact about how Islam has retarded Arabic society and culture.

It was mostly the fault of Al-Ghazali

When the Roman Empire fell down, Europe entered the Middle Ages. Bad infrastructure, most knowledge lost. Primitive ways of living, with lords and people belonging to him.
Spain was an exception. There was a culture touched by Islam. Good health practitioners. Lots of libraries. Schooling, infrastructure.

Big part of Europe organising itself again was due to inventions made by Arabs. Knowledge on health was better with Arabs too. They were appalled by how Medieval doctors treated their patients.

Till 1100, Jews were way better of in Islamic Spain than in the rest of whole Europe too.

Thinking Lestat meant, opening people's skulls with swords, though could have misinterpreted that.

I was thinking he was talking about one of more of the old "warrior" philosophies. They all boil down to the same thing.
