We really do need to unchain ourselves from the current way of thinking, that governments are needed, or even benign. They are universally parasitic, power hungry, and willing to murder anybody, even their own citizens, if it suits or advances their aims, or to consolidate their grip upon power.
Sooner we boot the thieving, lying piss-guzzlers out of office and strip them of any pensions, salaries, perks and the like the better. Long may they fucking well rot.
IMO certain things do need a policy-maker and enforcer, such as organizations like the CDC, to ensure a robust and rapid response to things like the current panic about ebola virus outbreaks, enforce quarantines if needs be, but IMO those sorts of things should have small, yet dedicated units qualified to run the show, to run that and nothing else. That way they cannot get tempted to get greedy for power as they might if one organization centrally administered every such point of requirement.
One requirement=one administrative arm dedicated to its upkeep and running, which does not have power over others outside its specific jurisdiction, and which is not privatized; as we all know, that would lead to cost-cutting which means corner-cutting and a shabby job of it to increase profits. Such vital situational response organizations cannot be permitted, as I see things, to make a profit at all, if they have no profits, just a budget to expend upon their purpose of existence, and payment of a fixed salary for their workers then they cannot become tempted to slash quality and reliability in order to line their pockets using the money intended to fund the services and/or research that they exist to render.
