I very rarely hear a politician make a speech that appears genuine.  I heard Obama speak about those kiddies that were massacred.   If he wasn't speaking from the heart he is a bloody good actor.

I didn't really have an opinion on him until then.

Republicans seem to be mad as hatters.

I think he might actually mean what he says, every now and then. Unusual for a politician, I know, but it has been known to happen.

Maybe he's into acting and the Academy should take notice.

Politicians are people with a microphone, reading speeches someone else wrote for them. Some are better public speakers than others, yes.

Things like that are easy to be genuinely sincere about  I would like to hear him talk about other things that are not and come across the same way.  Democrats are nutters also just on different issues.

Well, I think this is going to be the only opportunity to write "first female POTUS" into the history books right after "first black POTUS". Maybe Rush Limbaugh and his ilk will have a fatal heart attack! :orly:

I've heard speculation for years that she intends to run for the Presidency eventually.
I've wondered whether she has stayed with Bill all these years partly to benefit from the association.  :apondering:

She answered the question as a true politician.  Vaguely.   :zoinks:   Stating how much she was looking forward to becoming a grandmother (hinting that it would take up most of her time)  but also stating that she has discussed the possibility with 'Bill'  who would give her his full support if she did go for it.

In other words we are none the wiser.  lol

I suspect that she'll put her name forward, but backroom dealing might keep her from the primaries. It depends on who else the Democrats might have to run,

Quote
I suspect she will, but I don't think she's as well loved here. People either seem to like her, or hate her...and the sides are about even.

I am somewhat surprised at this.  No wonder she looked so happy here.

Would she get any support just because she would be the first woman?   I felt that was the case with Thatcher,  until they realised what a bitch she was.   :evillaugh:

She might, but the Republicans have Sarah Palin as a counter. Hilary Clinton is more centrist than Sarah Palin is, so they'd need a popular vice presidential candidate.

I don't think she will win unless the republicans really fuck it up.

Hooray!  She's going to win!   :hyke:

The midterm elections will show which way Congress is heading. Obama's gun control push seriously hurt him, and he's gotten caught up in political fights instead of taking action.

:agreed:

The economy still hasn't recovered, the national debt is up, the government is spying on us and the Democrats were pushing unpopular gun control measures. It will be an interesting election.

Well, I think this is going to be the only opportunity to write "first female POTUS" into the history books right after "first black POTUS". Maybe Rush Limbaugh and his ilk will have a fatal heart attack! :orly:

We'd also have that opportunity if Sarah Palin was elected.

We tend to get more details about Presidents,  and political profiles of candidates are quite thin unless searched for.   So,  my argument that Democrats are less bonkers is really limited to Presidents.

In recent history then we are talking Bill Clinton and Obama  v  Bush and Reagan.

Ronald Reagan once said "trees cause more pollution than automobiles"   :autism:

and Bush (jnr) has been the subject of much satire.  He wasn't the full ticket.

I rest my case.  :zoinks:

Obama is probably still more liked in Europe.

Not sure what to make of Hilary Clinton and her ambitions. I think she'll run, though.
Europe was all starry eyed over Obama because one of his campaign promises was to pull US troops out of the Middle East. The question of Clinton should be, will her party run her. Personally thought they should have run her instead of Obama.

Europeans tend to favour the democrats anyway. The republicans always seem to produce nutters and we're left wondering why anyone in their right mind would vote for the nutter.

We liked Obama more because he seemed less nuts.

Not to mention that the previous President was George W Bush Jr...I don't think I need to elaborate on that one.
