I have seen the rubber band bracelet kits and a few kids wearing the bracelets. I can make the cotton bracelets and recently bought a kit that had over 70 skeins in it. A bargain for $15. Usually a single skein costs $1-2.

Plus I have made zipper pulls and necklaces using the Kumihimo method. That is in another thread on here.

All this crafty talk reminds me of those macrame plant hangers with wooden beads in them.  :orly:

I still have the stuff for making hemp and embroidery thread bracelets. It was all the rage in fourth grade.

Making chains from gum wrappers.  Popular when I was in high school.

Interesting. How are the chains then joined side by side to make a piece of fabric, like used to make the purse?

I don't know.  All I ever made was one giant chain.  Which I don't know where it is, but definitely know it wasn't used for anything.  Bloody waste of time.   :dunno:

The dress was genius. Though probably needed a fabric under layer. Maybe that's how it's done, sewing the chains side by side onto fabric.

Maybe she used threads to go through the hollow spaces, aligning the chains that way.

Looked it up. They're all linked together. The strips need to be longer, or folded more narrow, to allow three to attach to one link. She only showed how to make a chain, not a fabric. Which is probably why she said the first example she held up was more difficult and her tutorial was for a more appealing looking chain with larger links.
